Research Associate in Geophysical Granular Flows
Applications are invited for an outstanding research associate to work on a NERC-funded project “Self-organization and run-out of geophysical mass flows”. The post is part of a team studying controls of the run-out behaviour of debris-flows, pyroclastic flows and snow avalanches, The project is led by Professor Nico Gray at the University of Manchester and Professor Peter Kokelaar at Liverpool University and is interdisciplinary, using a combination of small- and large-scale experiments, field work, mathematical theory and numerical computations.
You will have experience that includes experimentation and will be able to apply, or learn, the other approaches. You must have or be about to obtain a PhD, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline e.g. experimental physics/geophysics or applied mathematics/mechanics. You must also have a proven ability to publish research findings.
