PhD position in applied geophysics : Place du Parc, Belgium

Your job will consist especially in:• setting geophysical monitoring of the epikarst (geoelectrical methods and spontaneous potential)• developing specific acquisition methodologies and adapted data processing methods• collecting and integrating the results of complementary measures (gravimetric monitoring, TDR probes, rainfall, dropper ...)• interpreting the measurements considering the knowledge of the Lomme karst system• collaborating with hydrogeologists to provide data for hydrogeological models.During this project, scientific collaborations with foreign research teams will be considered.
DescriptionWithin the framework of the KARAG research project funded by FRS-FNRS, the Geology and Applied Geology Department of University of Mons (Belgium) is looking for a PhD student in the field of applied geophysics. This research project aims at studying the importance of the unsaturated zone on the water dynamics in karst systems. This study will be conducted in collaboration with University of Namur (FUNDP) and Royal Observatory of Belgium (ROB).
